2014 Mt. Carmel “Old Vines” Pinot Noir
This special and highly limited cuvée comes from an own-rooted block planted in 1990. This withering corner of the vineyard barely musters 1-ton per acre, but the resulting fruit is stunning. Here, the combination of focus, richness, brightness, savory, and sweet, coalesce seamlessly.
The wine already exhibits an undeniable purity and character. The nose is simultaneously lifted and powerful with dark red fruits, dusty loamy notes, and forest floor all intermingling. The palate is firm and shiny and tightly wound. This bottling will easily age for a decade or more, rewarding those with patience.
